While it might be totally un-British to giggle about any other individual's style decisions (we Brits are extremely respectful for that), I will say that as a Brit living in Los Angeles for more than 12 years, I've grabbed on certain American fashion inclinations that I've found rather particular and entertaining. I was shocked on my first informal breakfast date in Santa Monica where everybody seemed as though they had recently ventured out of the exercise center (less the perspiration, obviously). This is a long ways from the UK, where you'd never meet companions for lunch in yoga jeans or sports gear on the off chance that you aren't really intending to do sports. (To be completely forthright: after 12 years, I currently appear as though I go the rec center as well.) While we cherish communicating our love for great French style here on Who What Wear, the Brits go out on a limb, radiate an edgier tasteful, and are distinctly individual in their style decisions. Who What Wear UK's associate manager, Joy Montgomery, portrays a portion of the key qualities of British style: "Unconventionality would need to be at the highest priority on the rundown. While we wonder about New Yorker's expert clean or L.A's. laid-back cool, we Brits have a specific geeky eccentricity that shows in thick, hand-weaved jumpers, legacy textures, and odd adornments—we supported 'appalling' inclines path before they hit the standard. Our dreams incorporate Alexa Chung, Vivienne Westwood, and Cara Delevingne—all superbly peculiar in their own specific manners yet likewise verifiably cool." So what are the pieces that Americans wear that Brits believe are a bit entertaining? Look beneath for my firsthand style perceptions.
